About Caring Parents
Caring Parents works throughout Bartholomew County in three ways:
* New moms at Columbus Regional Hospital receive Caring Parents'ABC: All Babies Cry book and other materials on coping with crying, SIDS and depression.
* The volunteer-staffed home visitation program is available free of charge to all Bartholomew County residents with a baby under 12 months.
* Caring Parents provides presentations to increase awareness of issues and encourage all community members to support new parents to help prevent Shaken Baby. Presentations on SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) and Grand Parenting (Past & Present) are also available.
Caring Parents is a program of Family Service, Inc. and a REACH Healthy Communities Initiative.
About Columbus--Stay Awhile!
* Conde Nast Traveler cited Columbus as one of the 14 best cities in the world for lovers of architecture (June, 2012).
* Columbus is also one of Indiana’s 7 bike-friendly communities according to the May, 2012 ranking by The League of American Bicyclists.
* Midwest Living included Columbus in its list of “Top 25 New Places to Stay, Eat and Play” for 2012 as well as naming it a great 1-day get-away.
In other words, Columbus has it all! Otter Creek Golf course has been ranked as a top 25 public golf course every year since it was opened in 1964—almost 50 years! The Commons indoor playground, kidscommons, swimming pool and a handicap-accessible playground offer kids plenty to do. Parks feature such unusual facilities as an ice skating rink, a skateboard park, an observation tower and an ivy covered tunnel in addition to the more typical fun activities such as fishing, walking, hiking and biking. Oh, yes—Columbus has 2 works of art by Dale Chihuly, too. For more information, visit www.columbus.in.us.
